GRADES K TO 8: Good morning students! Today we are going to learn a few facts about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He was a child prodigy that grew up to become a famous composer. You might have heard some of his songs in movies and commercials.
Here are some interesting things about Mozart:
1. Mozart was a child prodigy. A prodigy is a child under the age of ten that shows the skill level of an adult in something. Mozart was a prodigy with the pianoforte, which is slightly different from the piano we know today.
2. His father took him on tour in Europe. Seeing that Mozart was talented, he traveled with him all over Europe so he can perform for princes and archbishops.
3. Mozart gave Beethoven music lessons for two weeks. Beethoven, another famous composer that became more well known later on, was briefly taught by Mozart.
4. He wrote his first opera when he was only 14 years old!
Here are some songs you can listen to that Mozart composed. See if you recognize any of them.
1. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy2zDJPIgwc
2. Overture to The Marriage of Figaro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp6UAGN_Ir4

4. Symphony No. 40, 1st Movement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l45DAuXYSIs

The next two classic superheroes have had several remakes throughout the years. Today we will feature the most well-known theme songs.
John Williams is an American composer that created the main theme song of Superman (1978). He was from Queens, NY and was formerly a jazz pianist before going to Hollywood to compose for movies. He composed for more than 100 movies, including Star Wars.

Paul Francis Webster and J. Robert Harris co-composed the Spiderman theme song from 1967. Paul Francis Webster was a lyricist, which means that he wrote the words to the song. J. Robert Harris wrote the music. Both of them are American composers originally from New York.
